Exploring Blockchain - The Future of the Frenzy

AN OPEN & ORGANIZED INFORMATIVE BLOCKCHAIN DISCUSSION AND DEMOS!

*This ones going to sell out fast. Limited seating available.*

Want to learn what blockchains are all about? From theory to implementation, this discussion meetup has you covered. With hands-on exercises, we are looking to help you understand how to frame your understanding and use of blockchain.

DISTILL MONTHS WORTH OF INDEPENDENT RESEARCH INTO HOURS

Blockchain technology represents a fundamental shift in how we add value to a system by removing the need for trusted third parties; it essentially creates singular truths. This creates the opportunity to build organizations, agreements, governments, and social networks never thought of before. The internet allowed people around the world to connect digitally. Blockchain allows people to transact and pass data back and forth in a decentralized, more transparent, more secure way.

It is still early days, but we are looking to help others interested in the subject gain a solid foundation and understanding of how consensus is achieved in distributed systems, how smart contracts can facilitate automated business logic, the different types of blockchains available, and why this technology is going to disintermediate industries.

OVERVIEW

  • Hands-on discussion about bitcoin and wallets and blockchain explorers
  • Technical overview discussion: Hashing, Mining, Nonces and Difficulty
  • Use cases of blockchains: Supply Chain, Insurance, Finance and More
  • Varieties of blockchains: Public, Private, Hybrids
  • Blockchain deficiencies
  • Hands-on with blockchain products
  • Launching your own blockchain?
  • Group hands-on: Creating a blockchain service
  • There will be refreshments served.

The Brew Business Feat. Diner Brew Co. Cider

Diner Brew Company, Mt Vernon's first Cidery, focusing on cider and farm alcohol, will be the feature of February's 'Brew Business' event.

Diner has had tremendous success since it's opening less than six months ago - their ciders are now poured in an ever growing list of locations across the county, from the Alamo Drafthouse and The Bronx Beer Hall to Beer Noggin, Decicco's and Smokehouse. Chris Sheldon, owner and head brewer, will walk us through the story behind Diner & how he built the business into what it is today. We'll take a closer look at the brand, the advantages of self-distribution, and why grass-roots efforts are now more important than ever in the brewery industry. The talk will be followed by a tasting of some of his delicious farm house ciders, as well as some pilot beers that aren't yet publicly available.

Tickets include admission and drinks

Reveal Mindfulness Workshop

reveal mindfulness.evenbrite.png

We all want the holidays to be times of family, warmth, and happiness. And often they turn into stress, running around and trying to survive until finally, they are over. It doesn't have to be that way. Your family, friends, and work can bring a lot of stress to the table (both literally and figuratively). Changing your perspective can impact the way you experience those moments and improve the experience for everyone.

And it isn't even that hard.

Join us on the 20th, for an introduction to mindfulness concepts, some practices that we will go through in the room and that you can take home. And have some fun: we'll have wine and cheese and laugh at least twice.

By the way, we don't care what holidays you celebrate, just join us.

And breathe.
